PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has described the late Harry Muloongo, a Kalomo farmer and father to his former driver, as a hardworking and peace-loving man.
The President said Mr Muloongo should be honoured by promoting peace and unity as pillars of national development.
President Hichilema said this through Chief Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa, who represented him at the funeral yesterday.
Mr Mweetwa stated that the New Dawn administration has dedicated this year as one of peace, love, and unity in order to create a platform for national development.
He said that as the country approaches elections, citizens should put aside their differences, adding that churches, civil society organisations, and nongovernmental organisations should embrace one another.
Mr Mweetwa reaffirmed that by January 10, all farmers would have been paid.
Meanwhile, speaking in Choma, Mr Mweetwa—who is also UPND national spokesperson—said President Hichilema is an inclusive and accommodative leader whose administration is anchored on unity.
He noted that 2026 will be a year of consolidating national peace and unity while safeguarding the economic gains achieved in recent years.
Mr Mweetwa reiterated President Hichilema’s message of peace, unity, and collaboration during New Year celebrations in Choma.
He stressed that Government is committed to promoting national peace and unity as a foundation for sustained economic development.
