THE Ministry of Tourism says the Munda Wanga Mini Zoo set up during the 59TH International Trade Fair in the Ndola Show Grounds provides a great opportunity for visitors to connect with wildlife in a safe and educational manner.

Minister of Tourism Planning and Policy Director, Charles Mweshi, said the initiative to set up the Mini Zoo is designed to promote local attractions among visitors attending the ongoing Zambia International Trade Fair in Ndola.

“As part of its effort to boost eco-tourism and family-friendly activities, the Ministry is encouraging show goers to visit the popular Munda Wanga Mini Zoo located within the Trade Fair grounds,” he said.

The main attraction within the Mini Zoo is the Bengal Tigers. These are primarily solitary, territorial animals that exhibit a range of behaviors such as hunting, scent marking and communication through vocalization and physical displays. Tigers use their distinctive coats as camouflage (no two have exactly the same stripes).

Others animals include the porcupine and the ostrich.

He stated that the Mini Zoo offers a unique opportunity for visitors of all ages to connect with wildlife in a safe and educational environment.

“We want to highlight this hidden gem as a must-visit destination during the event season,” he said.

Dr Mweshi said the Ministry has arranged special guided tours and interactive sessions with zookeepers.

“Discounted entry tickets are available for show attendees, and the Mini Zoo will be open daily throughout the exhibition period,” he said.

He has encouraged showgoers to plan a visit to the Mini Zoo, supporting local tourism and gaining insight into wildlife care.
