MOPANI Copper Mines (MCM) has employed over 1,400 people in the past one year following the investment by International Resources Holding (IRH).

In March last year, Government handed over 51 per cent of shares in MCM to IRH in boosting mining operations at the company.

MCM chief executive officer Charles Sakanya said in a statement that the company has scored major milestones aimed at pushing for sustainable growth and operational excellence following its partnership with IRH.

Mr Sakanya said the partnership has seen the mine creating 1,402 jobs across its operations, of which 1,354 workers are on general payroll and senior staff positions while 48 are managerial positions.

“The jobs created are between last year and May this year with the positions spanning mining, engineering and information technology departments,” he said.
