70,000 grain bags dispatched to Eastern Province

THE Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has dispatched 70,000 grain bags to Eastern Province to mitigate the shortage being experienced in some selected satellite depots.
This follows complaints by farmers in Eastern Province and some districts across the country.
FRA public relations coordinator John Chipandwe said they have engaged suppliers to provide 12 million additional bags and have since started making deliveries on a daily basis.
“FRA wishes to assure farmers in some satellite depots of Eastern Province and other districts experiencing erratic supply of bags that it is aware of the situation and has dispatched 70,000 bags and more shall be dispatched as suppliers continue to supply the agency,” Mr Chipandwe said in a statement yesterday.
