THE opposition have no clear alternative policies to what is being implemented by President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND government.
State House chief communications specialist Clayson Hamasaka said while President Hichilema’s vision is clear for Zambia, the opposition have not offered alternative solutions.
“We encourage the opposition to debate ideas. We are still waiting,” Mr Hamasaka said.
He said in a statement yesterday that the opposition have no ideas for Zambians ahead of the general election and have reduced their campaigns to mere attacks on Mr Hichilema.
“There can be no election hype as long as the opposition remain without clear alternative policies to what is being implemented by President Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND government,” Mr Hamasaka said.
With 71 days left before the general election, Mr Hamasaka said Zambians are judging this year’s polls based on a simple test of who has a plan that is “President Hakainde
Hichilema and the UPND government are setting the pace, while the opposition has yet to put a single credible alternative on the table,” he said.
Mr Hamasaka said Government’s ambition is clear and measurable – working towards 10 gigawatts of power deliverable generation, 10 million tonnes of maize, five million tourist arrivals, and three million tonnes of copper.
Others include production of three million tonnes of soya, one million tonnes of wheat, and US$1 billion in beef exports.
“The foundation for a prosperous and industrialising Zambia by the end of the decade [has been laid],” Mr Hamasaka said.
“These are not mere slogans, but a record already being delivered such as a landmark debt restructuring, inflation brought under control, a steadier Kwacha, and hard-won reforms that have unlocked investment in mining, energy and agriculture.”..https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
