GOVERNMENT has launched a €1.5 million (K33.6 million) feasibility study for a major infrastructure initiative dubbed the Lusaka City Water Supply Improvement Project.

He said in a speech read for him by assistant director for water supply Pasca Mwila.
“It is, therefore, important that we continue investing in infrastructure rehabilitation, system expansion, and climate resilient water supply systems capable of meeting both present and future demand,” Mr Kamanga said.
Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company managing director Jilly Chiyombwe said while Lusaka’s daily water demand currently stands at approximately 480,000 cubic metres, the city is only producing about 258,070 cubic metres daily.
The project will involve the replacement and rehabilitation of approximately 270 kilometres (km) of ageing reticulation infrastructure, establishment of 21 district metered areas, replacement of customer water meters, and construction of approximately 340 km of new distribution pipelines.
African Development Bank country manager Kennedy Wishimanga said the bank is supporting the initiative with a more than €1.26 million grant towards the total project cost of €1.51 million…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
