GOVERNMENT has introduced travel and tourism in the secondary school curriculum to align education with industry needs and unlock job opportunities in Zambia’s growing tourism sector.
Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima says the move is aimed at equipping learners with practical skills that respond to labour market demands while promoting entrepreneurship.
Speaking during the fourth Travel, Hospitality and Tourism Education Summit yesterday, Mr Syakalima said the initiative follows a directive from President
Hakainde Hichilema to reform the national curriculum.
“The introduction of travel and tourism as a subject in our school curriculum is a significant milestone as it demonstrates our commitment to aligning education provision to the country’s development agenda,” he said.
