NAKONDE Town Council has approved implementation of 10 community projects under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) at over K26 million.
The projects will be undertaken in key sectors like energy, roads, water, health and education.
Council assistant public relations officer Florence Musaba said in a statement that construction of a twomegawatt solar power plant under the Presidential Constituency Energy Initiative is one of the projects.
Ms Musaba said the projects under the road sector include rehabilitation of 8.6 kilometres of selected township roads and spot improvement of 46.1km of feeder roads.
She said a 12km masonry drainage will also be built under the road sector.
“The local authority welcomes the approval of the projects, which are expected to improve people’s lives and support development in the district,” Ms Musaba said.
She said some of the funds will go towards procuring an excavator, insurance, maintenance of vehicles and machinery bought under CDF.
Ms Musaba said the council will also drill 15 boreholes with hand pumps and buy six motorbikes for the district
health office.
