THE Zambian Mission in Washington, DC has been commended for its strategic and results-oriented approach in securing high-impact partnerships with reputable humanitarian and development organisations in support of Zambia’s health sector.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary – Administration, Joma Simuyi, described the Mission’s collaboration with institutions such as Project C.U.R.E. and Islamic Relief USA as a strong example of economic and public diplomacy that is delivering measurable outcomes for the Zambian people.
“The partnerships have facilitated the mobilisation of critical medical equipment and essential supplies to public health facilities across the country, thereby strengthening service delivery, improving health outcomes, and expanding access to quality healthcare, particularly for women, newborns, and vulnerable populations,” She said.
Mrs Simuyi made the remarks during a courtesy call on the Zambian Ambassador to the United States, Chibamba Kanyama, at the Embassy in Washington, DC.
She conveyed the Minister of Health’s appreciation for the Mission’s continued efforts in advancing Zambia’s development agenda through strategic international engagement.
“Under the leadership of President Hakainde Hichilema, Government has placed the health sector at the centre of national development, as evidenced by increased budgetary allocations and the recruitment of health workers countrywide.
She said the deliberate investments reflect Government’s commitment to building a resilient, responsive, and equitable health system.
“The positive impact of these engagements is already evident in our hospitals and communities through improved service delivery and lives saved,” Mrs Simuyi noted.
The delegation is expected to tour Project C.U.R.E. warehouses, engage with technical teams, and hold consultative meetings with key partners to ensure that current and future support remains aligned to Zambia’s national health priorities and sustainability objectives.
