PARAMOUNT Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba of Northern and Muchinga provinces has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for championing peace in last Thursday’s Kasama mayoral by-election, whose campaigns were calm.
The traditional leader has also congratulated the United Party for National Development (UPND) on winning the by-election.
The Chitimukulu said this yesterday when a delegation led by presidential political adviser Levy Ngoma visited him at his Mungwi palace to introduce newly elected Mayor of Kasama Bywell Simposya.
This is according to a news bulletin monitored last evening on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation TV1.
“We appreciate the way the elections were conducted. We didn’t have violence and so forth, which has even shown a bit of maturity in our political systems,” he said.
“And I must congratulate the UPND as a party, the President himself as a leader of the party for scooping this mayoral seat.”…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
