ZESCO chairperson Vickson Ncube has refuted widespread allegations of the increase of electricity tariffs, clarifying that no such adjustment has been approved by the board.
He said such adjustments can only be done with the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) approval.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Ncube said the company cannot increase the tariffs without ERB approving the increment.
“We can’t increase the tariffs without the ERB’s approval because any increase of tariffs for Zesco is approved by the ERB,” he said.
The Mr Ncube said all the official tariff structures are available in the public domain and anyone can have access to them and verify the rates.
“The tariffs are posted there on the public domain and everyone can have access to them and we urge the public to rely on official channels rather than speculations,” he said.
