MINISTRY of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana has commended Zambia Daily Mail management for adding innovation in the company’s operations.
And Mr Kawana has implored the national newspaper to counter misinformation and disinformation as the country heads toward the August general elections.
Speaking when he toured the company to appreciate its operations, Mr Kawana said compared to the past few years, Zambia Daily Mail has demonstrated innovation in having invested in alternative transportation such as motorbikes and power generation through solar.
Mr Kawana also commended the national publication for investing in courier services, making it a reliable and trusted company in the delivery of goods and services.
“I can see progress now compared to the time I toured the company when I was director spokesperson.
I’m impressed with your initiative to invest in motorbikes to cut transportation costs.
“I’m also happy that courier is doing well and Daily Mail has become a dependable courier service and people are appreciating,” Mr Kawana said.
He urged the company’s courier department to treat every parcel with the importance it deserves in order to attract more clients.
Mr Kawana stressed the need for the paper to be accessible at every level across the country, as well as ensure it becomes financially stable.
Further, he said with the company’s online department, there should be no room for misinformation and disinformation.
“I’m glad that Daily Mail is actively online and had digitised images and information.”
He assured the nation that this year’s election will be peaceful, noting that President Hakainde Hichilema has demonstrated what leadership is all about.
During the tour, Mr Kawana was accompanied by Zambia Daily Mail managing director Simate Simate and company managing editor Emeldah Musonda.
Mr Simate expressed delight that the permanent secretary visited the institution, which has innovated its operations.
