‘Revived TAZARA promises prosperity’

THE revitalised TAZARA Railway is poised to create a belt of prosperity for Zambia, secretary-general of Zambia-China Friendship Association (ZCFA) Fredrick Mutesa has said.
Dr Mutesa said the ongoing rehabilitation of Tanzania-Zambia Railway (TAZARA) represents a strategic economic investment that will unlock new growth corridors, attract private sector participation and strengthen Zambia’s position as a regional trade hub.
In an interview, Dr Mutesa said the project goes beyond restoring rail infrastructure, describing it as a catalyst for industrial expansion, logistics development and enterprise growth along the railway corridor.
“This is not merely about fixing tracks and running trains again. It is about creating economic ecosystems along the line — dry ports, logistics parks, agro-processing zones and service centres that will drive employment and income generation,” Dr Mutesa said.
He noted that towns and communities situated along the 1,860-kilometre railway, which links Kapiri Mposhi to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, are expected to experience renewed commercial activity as transport efficiency improves…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
