JAILED Patriotic Front (PF) faction secretary-general Raphael Nakacinda has appeared in court in one of three remaining cases he is charged with seditious practices.
Mr Nakacinda is charged with failing to comply with a lawful summons issued by Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) between November 4 and 7, 2022.
The accused was summoned after he made allegations that UPND had dispatched vehicles with pre-marked ballot papers to districts which were conducting by-elections.
Nakacinda, who appeared in court with a book titled ‘It’s Our Turn to Eat’, denied the allegations before Lusaka resident magistrate Mbuywana Sinvula.During trial yesterday, Brian Mwale, a librarian in the Ministry of Home Affairs, testified.
The witness made reference to a Daily Nation newspaper dated November 4, 2022 which carried an article in which Nakacinda was quoted making the allegations in issue.
Mr Mwale also narrated how some law enforcers from antifraud unit visited his office in relation to the court matter.
In cross-examination, the defence asked if he had told the court the number of witnesses who visited his office, to which he said no.
“The only thing they came for is the publication you gave them?” the defence asked the witness, who said “yes”.
Asked if the only role he came to in court was to produce that evidence and nothing else, the witness agreed.
“You know nothing about the charge Nakacinda is facing?” the lawyer asked the witness who said “no”.
The case will resume on March 2, 2026 when the prosecution team bring their last two witnesses….https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
