A TWO-WEEK-OLD baby sustained head injuries and is admitted to St Francis Mission Hospital in Katete, Eastern Province, after his father allegedly punched him while fighting with the baby’s mother.
Eastern Province police commanding officer Robertson Mweemba named the suspect as Lameck Banda, aged 40.
The incident happened on Sunday.
Mr Mweemba said the suspect was beating his wife after she allegedly stopped him from getting a bag of fertiliser from the house, which he intended to sell and use the money to buy beer.
“The wife refused, which angered him and [he] started beating the wife, who sustained general body pains and bleeding from the mouth.
Later his sister, who was holding their baby, came to separate them and in the process he turned to the sister and wanted to hit her with a fist that missed and landed on the child,” Mr Mweemba said.
He said two dockets of assault were opened and the suspect has been detained awaiting court appearance… https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
