ZESCO Ndola Girls on Saturday reduced Green Buffaloes’ lead to one point at the summit of Women Super League after beating Konkola Blades Queens at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Victory in this Week 19 fixture pushed the William Zulu-coached side to 46 points, one shy of Buffaloes.
Thandiwe Ndhlovu was the architect of the win after contributing a goal in either half.
“It was a tough game. In the first half, we underrated them but in the second half, we did well and managed to play our usual game. This game is now under the bridge and we look forward to the next game,” Zulu said.
Blades are perched seventh with 25 points.
Across town at Indeni Sports Complex, Indeni Roses did Zesco a favour after handing Buffaloes their second loss of the season by edging them 2-1 with the visitors’ coach, Charles Haalubono, attributing the defeat to rain.
