TO COMPLEMENT Government’s entrepreneurship and job creation agenda, Choppies Zambia has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the University of Zambia (UNZA) to train future managers.
Government has welcomed this development because it aligns with its resolve to provide young people with an opportunity to advance in their careers for them to be ready for employment and leadership.
Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Elvis Nkandu said Government is keen on job creation, skills development, and empowerment opportunities for various viable projects that the youth may want to engage in.
He said this at the launch of the Choppies Zambia management development programme and signing of the agreement with UNZA.
“We want young people to be ready for work, ready for leadership, and ready to contribute to the economy. We want education that leads to employment, entrepreneurship, and real income for our young people,” the minister said.
Government has prioritised human capital development as evidenced by the introduction of free education; enhanced skills development for youth to enable them to become self-reliant; job creation; and stronger partnerships between the public and private sectors.
Mr Nkandu said Choppies’
‘Think Management Development’ programme is an important undertaking as it speaks directly to the Government’s agenda of youth empowerment and economic growth.
UNZA vice-chancellor Mundia Muya said the agreement provides a structured framework of cooperation on matters of mutual interest between Choppies and UNZA.
Choppies Zambia human resources manager Paul Monde said the programme is designed to prepare graduates for future managerial roles.
