LUSAKA Province has achieved a 92 percent Constituency Development Fund (CDF) utilisation rate, with over K341 million spent on various projects in 2025.
Lusaka Province principal public relations officer Logic Lukwanda attributed the milestone to Government’s timely release of funds.
He said the funding enabled all the six local authorities of Luangwa, Rufunsa, Chongwe, Lusaka, Chilanga and Kafue to implement various projects in 2025.
“As a province, we would like to reiterate that all CDF projects are demand-driven, meaning that projects are determined by users themselves, the community,” Mr Lukwanda said.
He disclosed that the community identified projects mainly in health, education, infrastructure and security infrastructure, which include police posts and stations.
Mr Lukwanda cited a mortuary at Rufunsa Rural Health Centre in Rufunsa District as one of the key projects for 2025, saying previously, people in that area relied on Chongwe District Hospital and Mpanshya Mission Hospital for a mortuary.
He highlighted others as a market and ablution block at Feira market in Luangwa District, which had none, Lubansa Primary School in Chongwe, an area which had no school before, and Mulangwa Primary School in Kafue District.
Others include George compound skills training centre in Matero constituency in Lusaka and a two-storey classroom block in Chawama constituency and another in Kaunda Square in Munali constituency as flagship projects.
“Additionally, the release of K3.2 million for fuel to all constituencies for the yellow machines [graders, tipper trucks, front-end loaders and compactors] has helped local authorities rehabilitate roads, which has made it easier for the general public to access markets, health, education facilities and general movements,” he said.
Mr Lukwanda further noted that with increased CDF to K40 million per constituency, Lusaka Province must expect more development this year….https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
