AS THE new year begins, President Hakainde Hichilema has assured Zambians that the New Dawn administration will “push harder” and deliver more, stressing that “the best is still ahead of us”.
In his New Year message delivered last evening, the President said the progress achieved in 2025 was undeniable, but more remains to be done.
“In 2026, we will push harder. We will deliver more. We will continue building an economy that works for everyone, not just a few. We will protect the peace and the unity that holds us together as one Zambia, one nation. And we will not stop until every Zambian benefits from that which we are fighting for,” Mr Hichilema said.
He urged citizens to embrace peace and dialogue as the country enters an election year. “Tonight, as the new year dawns, let us lift our hands, lift our hearts, lift our dreams and lift up the banner of peace and dialogue,” he said.
Drawing from scripture, the President likened Zambia’s journey to the biblical trek of the Israelites in Exodus.
“They faced deserts, sandstorms, searing heat, doubts, and days when the future felt too far away. But still, they marched on, knowing they were no longer in bondage but on their way to something better,” he said.
Mr Hichilema acknowledged the challenges of a recovering economy but emphasised that Zambia is moving forward. “We are not where we were in 2021. We are no longer stuck. We’re moving ahead with purpose. We are rising and rebuilding,” he said…
