FIFTY-SIX cooperatives in Solwezi Central have received empowerment loans worth K2,554,900 under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF), a move aimed at accelerating grassroots development.
The funds were officially handed over during a ceremony held at the local authority.
Solwezi Central Member of Parliament Stafford Mulusa, who officiated at the event, described the disbursement of the money as a major step to empowering local entrepreneurs and strengthening community-based enterprises.
Mr Mulusa said CDF has continued to transform lives by providing capital to cooperatives that would otherwise struggle to access financing from conventional financial institutions.
He said the Government is determined to ensure empowerment funds reach genuine beneficiaries at constituency level.
The lawmaker said the 56 cooperatives were drawn from the 12 wards of Solwezi Central.
Mr Mulusa said beneficiaries were selected from an initial 78 cooperatives that were approved by the provincial CDF committee.
He said the remaining 22 cooperatives will receive their empowerment loans once procedural requirements are finalised.
Mr Mulusa urged recipients to use the funds prudently and for the intended purpose.
He said misuse of CDF loans will undermine Government’s efforts to uplift communities, adding that accountability will be enforced….https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/
