A 52-YEAR-OLD prophetess of Pemba has landed herself in trouble after a woman she administered ‘anointed milk’ on to heal her ailment developed acute diarrhoea and died from suspected poisoning.
‘Prophetess’ Hildah Cheelo, of Muzoka area, has been arrested in connection with the death of Linety Mulima, 68.
Southern Province police commanding officer Auxensio Daka said Cheelo was called for divine intervention for Ms Mulima’s ailing relative. It was there that she administered the salted milk to the patient and Ms Mulima.
Mr Daka said the suspected poisoning incident happened on Tuesday after Ms Mulima’s relative had earlier requested for milk because she was feeling some discomfort.
“The prophetess requested the milk for prayers, added coarse salt and administered it to the patient.
Ms Mulima consumed the remaining portion and later developed severe diarrhoea and was rushed to a nearby clinic at about 17:00 hours where she died at around 20:00 hours,” Mr Daka said in a statement.
He said the ‘prophetess’ is in police custody while investigations have been instituted for suspected murder….https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
