Price inertia worries Govt

MINISTER of Commerce, Trade and Industry Chipoka Mulenga is concerned by the slow response from the business community regarding commodity price reduction following the decrease in inflation rate and fuel pump prices, and appreciation of the local currency.
Mr Mulenga said it is unfair for the business community to claim to be selling old stock for four months.
“Firstly, they were telling me they need to get rid of old stock. But, honestly, even if you sell old stock, how come it is not finishing in four months?
I think time has come when Zambians should get benefits out of these positive economic fundamentals,” he said.
