MIDFIELDER Rachael Nachula says the Copper Queens have been tested by tough opponents in the group stage and are ready for a showdown with Nigeria in Friday’s Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAfCON) quarterfinal tie at Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
Nachula said the quality display in what was described as a “group of death” has given players confidence.
She said competing in a group that produced three quarter-finalists has strengthened players mentally and tactically.
The Copper Queens finished second in Group A with seven points, level with leaders Morocco, while Senegal were third with three points and winless Democratic Republic of Congo were tailenders.
Morocco face Mali while Senegal take on champions South Africa.
“Our group was tough. Three of the teams went through (to the quarter-finals). That alone shows how strong it was and we are ready to face any team going forward,” Nachula said.
“We are feeling great that we qualified to the next round.
We are happy that we managed to come second in our group, especially considering how tough it was.”….https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
