THE Zambia International Motor Rally will not be staged this year due to various challenges.
It will be one of the few years in which Zambia has not hosted the event, which was first staged in 1969 and is part of the Africa Rally Championship (ARC).
Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) president Sam Ching’ambu said in an interview yesterday that they held a meeting at which they resolved not to host the annual event.
“What we have done is that we have decided not to host the Zambia International Motor Rally due to various reasons. Of course we are not the only ones, there are a few other countries that are also not hosting ARC,” Ching’ambu said.
“One of the reasons include the challenges in paying affiliation fees to Federation of International Automobiles (FIA), they are too high.”
He said no Zambian driver will compete in the ARC.
Ching’ambu, however, said ZMSA is looking forward to hosting the rally next year….https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
