CHIEF Government Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says the New Dawn administration will continue to espouse reconciliation even after the burial of sixth President Edgar Lungu.
Mr Mweetwa said Government will also continue to espouse a policy anchored on openness and consultation.
He said after Mr Lungu is put to rest, it should not be the last time the country should have conversations around reconciliation and peace.
“Such should be a going concern of how we govern ourselves. As Government, we would like to indicate that we will render all relevant support to the bereaved family during this trying moment and afterwards,” he said.
Mr Mweetwa said the Church and traditional leadership have played significant roles in ensuring the control and management of emotions for not only the bereaved family, but the nation as a whole.
He said the late sixth President was a leader who did not just represent Zambia locally, but also at international stage, hence the need to honour him.
Speaking when he featured on Hot FM’s Hot Seat programme yesterday, Mr Mweetwa, who is Minister of Information and Media, said in this moment of sorrow, the country has moved in the direction of consolidating the One Zambia, One Nation
motto.
