GOVERNMENT says the remains of former President Edgar Lungu will arrive from South Africa today at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA), Presidential Pavilion, at 14:00 hours.
Secretary to Cabinet Patrick Kangwa says a military honours ceremony will be conducted at KKIA by Zambia Defence Forces in honour of Mr Lungu.
In a statement yesterday, Mr Kangwa, however, guided that attendance during the military honours ceremony is strictly by invitation.
He has advised the public to follow the live broadcast of the ceremony on ZNBC, ZANIS TV, Prime TV, Diamond TV and other media outlets.
Mr Kangwa stated that after the formalities at KKIA, the body will proceed to lie in state at the private residence of the former head of State at Plot No. 56660, Chifwema Road, New Kasama.
He also indicated that Belvedere Lodge remains the official designated venue for the State funeral during the period of national mourning.
“In order to allow members of the public to pay their last respects, the body of the late sixth President will lie in state at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre from Thursday, 19th to Saturday, 21st June, 2025, from 09:00 hours to 16:00 hours,” Mr Kangwa said.
Further, he urged members of the public to continue mourning Mr Lungu with dignity and respect.
