Imenda regrets partisanship on constitutional reform

UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) secretary general Batuke Imenda says it is unfortunate that the debate on constitutional amendments has taken a partisan route with the sole aim of disrupting or stopping the process.

He says with the constitutional amendments, Zambia stands at a crossroads, a point of important decision-making that will shape the future.

Mr Imenda said in a statement yesterday that Zambia seems to have converged on the Constitution, with individuals, civil society organisations and political parties expressing various views following a proposal for constitutional amendments.

“The debate has unfortunately taken a partisan route with the sole aim of derailing the process or, at the least, stagnating it.
