GOVERNMENT has requested for an emergency meeting with the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) to iron out their planned withdrawal from voluntary medical services.
Addressing the media yesterday, Minister of Health Elijah Muchima disclosed that his ministry held a meeting three weeks ago with RDAZ and discussed pertinent issues like settling-in allowances and dedication for work, among others.
“The Ministry of Health has and will continue to encourage cordial interactions between sector-affiliated associations and itself through an open-door policy.

Dr Muchima said it’s Government’s desire to employ all doctors but this is not possible because of the limited resource envelope.
