ANTI-CORRUPTION Commission (ACC) has arrested Katombola Constituency Development Fund (CDF) committee chairperson Sophia Jani, 46, for alleged corrupt practices involving K190,000.
ACC senior corporate communications officer Dorothy Mzumara said in a statement yesterday that Ms Jani, of Simango village in Kazungula district, Southern Province, is charged with one count of failure to disclose interest, contrary to Section 5 (5) sub-paragraph (1) (2) and (3) of the CDF Act number 11 of 2018.
She said on June 19, 2023, Ms Jani did not disclose interest during a CDF committee meeting and participated in the deliberations.
That led to the award of an empowerment loan of K190,000 to Ms Jani’s company, Mwabonwa Culture Experience.
Further, the commission has arrested and charged a Livingstone resident, Nyambe Sakubita, 45, of plot number 2498 Kafue Road in Nottie Broad, with one count of forgery and one count of uttering a false document.
Dr Mzumara said Mr Sakubita, between January 1, 2022 and October 31, 2022 in Livingstone, altered an official Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA) document with intent to deceive and further uttered the false document, purporting it to be genuine…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
