PAN-AFRICAN Patrick Lumumba has advised former President Edgar Lungu to retire and leave the stage honourably following the Constitutional Court judgment that he is ineligible to contest for the presidency.
On Tuesday, the Constitutional Court ruled that Mr Lungu was ineligible to contest the 2026 and future presidential elections because he was elected twice and served office two times.
The court found that Mr Lungu was sworn in twice as President and served full terms in office – first in 2015 after the death of fifth President Michael Sata and when he won the general election in 2016.
“President Lungu should graduate into a statesman,” Professor Lumumba said. “He should leave the stage and retire honourably.”…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/
