FNB not closing Zambia operations

FIRST National Bank (FNB) Zambia has described as fake a letter circulating on social media platforms that the financial institution is about to close operations in the country due to negative economic conditions.
FNB Zambia chief executive officer Kapumpe Chola said the bank is well capitalised and remains committed to safeguarding its customers’ investments and funds.
She further stated that FNB is a leading player in the financial sector in Zambia with the latest quarterly performance results recently published in the media post-March 2024.
“We have been notified and have received a letter circulating on various social media channels on FNB Zambia’s alleged closure.
This letter is fake and we have engaged the necessary offices to assist us to investigate the source of this letter,” she said in a statement issued by FNB head-strategic marketing and communication Kasali Kaingu.
“Kindly note that FNB’s Cairo and Makeni branches are undergoing scheduled platform and technology enhancements today, May 17th 2021 [yesterday].
Impacted customers have been notified through the bank’s official communication channels and are being ably routed to alternative banking channels to aid them continue with their transactions.
“Our customer-facing employees are available to address any concerns that may arise from this fake letter. For any additional support, all queries may
