Veep says Govt working to reduce high cost of living

VICE-PRESIDENT Mutale Nalumango says Government is working hard to reduce the high cost of living, hence citizens should hold on a little.
And Stanbic Bank Zambia Limited has provided K1 million to the Office of the Vice-President towards the drought disaster and emergency declared by President Hakainde Hichilema in February this year.
Zambia needs K23.5 billion to tackle the hunger situation brought about by a prolonged dry spell, with close to 100 districts affected and over 6.6 million citizens needing food and other humanitarian aid.
Mrs Nalumango said the New Dawn administration is ‘digging deeper’ to avert the high cost of living, adding that people should exercise some patience as it (Government) is trying to have them afford basic essential commodities.
“And I just want to use this opportunity to speak to all of us Zambians that your Government is very aware of the cost of living that our people are going through. But we will still assure you that Government is working hard to see how we reverse this.
