PF MPs urge ConCourt not to entertain preliminary issues

TWO Patriotic Front (PF) law-makers who filed a lawsuit against party president Miles Sampa in Constitutional Court have urged it not to entertain preliminary issues raised by the respondents.
Bangweulu law-maker Anthony Kasandwe and his Milanzi counterpart, Melesiana Phiri, have opposed the preliminary issues raised by the respondents, who want the court to dismiss their petition on a point of law.
In this case, the two Members of Parliament (MPs) sued Mr Sampa challenging his decision to expel them from PF without being heard.
The petitioners are seeking an order that their purported expulsion in line with article 72 (2) (e) of the Constitution is null and void.
The duo seeks a declaration that the purported acceptance of their resignation letters by PF secretary-general Morgan Ng’ona on the basis of refusal to accept deductions to their salaries is void.
