MINISTER of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane is leading a highlevel delegation for this year’s spring meetings in Washington DC, United States (US).
Spring meetings of the Boards of Governors of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group take place in April annually in Washington, DC.
The Board of Governors consists of a high-level representative from each of the 190-member countries, typically the minister of finance, central bank governor, or minister of development/planning.
During the meetings, the governors participate in plenary sessions and discuss the challenges affecting the global economy.
They also decide on major policy issues which are related to the future work of IMF and World Bank.
This year’s meetings started yesterday and will end on Sunday.
Dr Musokotwane is accompanied by Secretary to the Treasury Felix Nkulukusa, Bank of Zambia governor Denny Kalyalya and Ministry of Finance and National Planning acting Permanent Secretary for budget and economic affairs Mwaka Mukubesa.

Authority (ZRA) commissionergeneral Dingani Banda and Bank of Zambia deputy governor for operations Francis Chipimo.
On the side-lines of the IMF/World Bank spring meetings, Zambia will also be represented during the global parliamentary forum by parliamentarians Fred Chaatila [Moomba Constituency] and Davison Mung’andu [Chama South], who both belong to the planning and budgeting committee of Parliament.
The Dr Musokotwane-led delegation was welcomed in Washington DC on Sunday by Zambia’s Ambassador to the US, Chibamba Kanyama, who described the country’s participation in the meetings as pivotal.
During the week-long meetings, the delegation will participate in a number of IMF and World Bank-scheduled events, hold bilateral talks with development partners and engage investors from across the globe.
