Chinese firm invests $28.5m in drugs plant

FOLLOWING President Hakainde Hichilema’s state visit to China last year in September, a Chinese importer and distributor of pharmaceutical products has begun setting up a medicine-manufacturing plant in Lusaka’s Makeni area.
VL Healthnet Services Limited is setting up the plant at a cost of US$28.5 million, and will start manufacturing IV fluids and injectables in the initial stages, according to its chairperson, Li Ru Song.
This came to light yesterday when Deputy Secretary to Cabinet for finance and economic development Siazongo Siakalenge led a delegation of heads of statutory bodies on a tour of the plant under construction.
