First Lady hosts learners on child marriages elimination

IN KEEPING with her pledge to dedicate 2024 to advocating for the elimination of child marriages, First Lady Mutinta Hichilema has hosted learners from the 10 provinces through a mentorship programme targeted ateradicating the scourge.
The two-day mentorship initiative, funded by Stanbic Bank, covered issues like discipline, determination, and the importance of education, which can assist boys and girls to vert child marriage.
The First Lady, who said she is aware learners had the opportunity to be mentored by Stanbic Bank, is also pleased to discover that the boys and girls have already begun to choose their future careers.
She said yesterday that majority of the students are between the ages of 14 and 18, adding that this is the crucial period in their lives as it serves as basis for their future.
Mrs Hichilema said this is a stage in life at which young people can either succeed or fail.
She said she could see engineers, pilots, doctors, nurses, lawyers, and even future Presidents among them.
