Prophet nabbed for defiling 9-yr-old during prayers

POLICE in Kalomo have detained a 36-year-old self-proclaimed prophet for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl he claimed was demon-possessed and needed to be exorcised at a mountain.
Grey Muchindu, of Mawaya Pilgrim Church, took two girls – a nine-year-old and a 15-year-old to the mountain for prayers where he is alleged to have had sex with the younger one.
Southern Province police commanding officer Aunxesio Daka said the incident happened on Monday.
Mr Daka said Muchindu allegedly prophesied to the congregation during the main service on Sunday that the victim was haunted by a strong demon which required overnight prayers for her to be freed.
As the prophet was known to be a man of God and married, the victim’s mother agreed and handed her daughter to him.
“The suspect took the victim and her friend, who also went for prayers, to the mountain,” Mr Daka said.
