HH forms ministerial team over Kabwe lead pollution

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has formed an interministerial committee to find ways of mitigating the effects of lead pollution in Kabwe.
The committee will be chaired by Minister Green Economy and Environment Collins Nzovu and includes the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development, the Central Province administration and representatives from the civil society.
Special Assistant to the President for Finance and Investment Jito Kayumba told ZNBC that the Head of State is concerned about the impact of contaminated soil due to lead poisoning in the former Broken Hill town.
The President wants the committee to work fast and resolve the problem that has continued to affect the people.
Mr Kayumba said the committee is expected to start its mandate immediately Cabinet Office finishes working on its terms and references.
