Govt signs $10m deal to upgrade Nakonde border

GOVERNMENT has signed a US$10 million partnership support agreement and project charter with TradeMark Africa to upgrade infrastructure at Nakonde One Stop Border Post (OSBP).
The project will be implemented in two phases, with the first being under the US$10 million United Kingdom (UK) funding through World Bank support.
Nakonde OSBP is one of the busiest borders in the country, clearing more than 800 trucks per day, with an annual revenue collection of K3.1 billion.
Speaking during the signing ceremony yesterday, Minister of Finance and National Planning Situmbeko Musokotwane said Zambia can only thrive if it enhances its import and export business.
