  • Petauke Central MP banned 30 days for misconduct

NOT for the first time, Petauke Central Member of Parliament (MP) Emmanuel Banda has been suspended from Parliament for 30 days for misconduct.
The suspension follows a letter of complaint written to the Office of the Speaker in November last year by Katombola MP Clement Andeleki alleging that Mr Banda made defamatory utterances in a video that was shared online.
Mr Banda, popularly known as Jay Jay, was suspended from Parliament for 14 days last November for disorderly conduct. He was also part of the 17 MPs suspended for 30 days during the same period for gross misconduct.
Mr Andeleki stated that Mr Banda, in the video, alleged that they have been chased from Parliament to facilitate misappropriation of funds and that standing orders had also been altered.
