THE Chipolopolo yesterday left for Malawi for the four-nation tournament with coach Avram Grant saying they will use the event to fine-tune and assess new call-ups ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers resuming in June.
Zambia face Zimbabwe in the semi-finals at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.
The winners will take on Kenya or Malawi in the final while the losers will battle for third position.
Grant said in an interview before departure for Lilongwe yesterday that the tournament in Malawi will be used to shape the team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Morocco and Tanzania.
Zambia will be away to Morocco on June 3 before hosting Tanzania seven days later.
“I think it is a very good tournament for us because it is the last preparation. The last time that we can see things before the qualification for the World Cup in June and then we have the qualification to the Africa Cup in two-three months everything put together,” Grant said…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
