Algerian ends Mwali unbeaten run

INTERNATIONAL Master (IM) Chitumbo Mwali’s hopes of winning the Africa Individual Chess Championship and subsequently earning a Grand Master (GM) Norm on Monday suffered a setback after registering the first defeat.
Mwali lost to Algerian GM Bilel Bellahcene in round seven and dropped to fourth position with five points, 1.5 points behind leader GM Amin Bassem of Egypt.
Prior to meeting his Waterloo, Mwali registered four wins and two draws.
