Zamcapitol Enterprise to set up solar plan

ZAMCAPITOL Enterprise Limited, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Defence, plans to set up of a solar power plant with an initial generation of 15 megawatts (mw), which will be added to the national electricity grid.
The firm’s general manager, Brigadier General Edson Lungomesha, says the plant will in the next five years be upgraded to 100 mw to cushion the country’s power deficit.
Brig.Gen. Lungomesha said the project will be done in a phased approach, with location of the plant to be determined in due course.
He said this yesterday during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Zamcapitol Enterprise Limited and Copperbelt University (CBU).
The agreement seeks to enhance collaboration and productivity between the two institutions.
