FORMER Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo has opened defence in the proceeds of crime case levelled against him and his wife, Wanziya, describing one of the charges as strange.
Kampyongo said he found it odd that in count five, he is accused of possession of a property suspected of being proceeds of crime, when the same is a “bare piece of land”.
It is alleged in count five that Kampyongo and Wanziya possessed properties number F/33/A/F/2470 and F/33/A/F/2471 in Lusaka’s Meanwood Ndeke, worth K2.1 million, reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime.
“I found the charge strange because the property in question is a bare piece of land which I acquired through an exchange transaction using another piece of land, which was also genuinely offered to me by the State through the Commissioner of Lands,” Kampyongo said…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/
