Kwacha stability won’t come via mere pronouncements

VICE-PRESIDENT Mutale Nalumango says Government is working hard to improve the balance of payments to retain stability in the exchange rate.
On a programme dubbed COSTA on Diamond TV on Sunday night, Mrs Nalumango said for either small- or largescale businesses in the country to thrive, the Kwacha should be strong, in comparison to other major foreign currencies like the United States (US) dollar.
“Anybody, whether economist or not, even my kitchen economics, will tell you that we need a stable dollar.
“But how do you stabilise the dollar? We found a very volatile situation,” she said.
The Vice-President, however, said the exchange rate stability will not come by mere pronouncements.
