Church, State pray for rains, unity, peace

KABANDA CHULU

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema and Vice-President Mutale Nalumango yesterday joined clergy at the ChurchState dialogue breakfast meeting in Lusaka to pray for peace, unity and for the heavens to open up with rains in view of the drought.
The President urged the Church and Zambians to continue praying for the rains, which have dried up in the last one month.
“It is almost four weeks of droughts in some parts of the country,” he noted. “It is worrying especially that crops are at a critical stage needing moisture. We should not lose hope but ask God for more rains.
“We look up to God for those things we can’t change, and we urge the Church and citizens to continue with prayers even after this dialogue so that our prayers get answered.”
President Hichilema said the challenges facing Zambia can be likened to a coin, as there are two sides.
