Teachers advised against shunning rural schools

EDUCATORS who are deserting rural places and yet are drawing salaries from the designated stations should consciously and expeditiously return to their posts and execute their duties diligently, failure to which they will face the repercussions, a teacher union has warned.
Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) public relations officer Brian Mwila has also advised newly-recruited teachers to adhere to conditions of service like seeking transfers only after four years of working in a particular area.
In an interview yesterday, Mr Mwila said it is illegal for teachers to continue getting salaries when they do not deliver services in designated stations.
