Govt takes interest in shooting of 15-yr-old boy

GOVERNMENT says investigations into the killing of 15-year-old Chrispin Bunda allegedly shot dead by a Zambia National Service (ZNS) patrol team in Mufulira, Copperbelt, will be done transparently to achieve justice.

ZNS officers are part of the team patrolling to counter smuggling of mealie meal into the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Funeral expenses for the juvenile have since been taken over by Government, which has also cautioned opposition political party leaders against politicising the incident.

Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo says the death should have been prevented had officers or whoever was involved avoided using live ammunition.

“I think live ammunition should be the least thing an officer should think of using, especially to people who are harmless.
