PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has urged Italian businesses to bring their technology to Zambia and set up partnerships.

Speaking at Italy-Zambia Business Forum, organised by Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo on his State visit to Italy, the President said Zambia is particularly interested in adding value locally.

The President is in Italy partly to reciprocate Italian President Sergio Mattarella’s visit to Zambia in July, the first ever to the country by a head of State of a European Union (EU) member and the second of an Italian President after Francesco Cossiga’s trip in 1989.

President Hichilema, who had a working lunch at the Quirinale with his host, is expected to end the visit with a trip to the Maccarese SpA agricultural company, considered among the largest agricultural companies in Italy, whose model could be replicated in Zambia.
