Restaurants struggle to sell beef

SOME lodges and hotels in Lusaka, Chongwe, Chilanga and Kafue have removed red meat on their menus following the outbreak of anthrax two months ago.
This was evidenced during spot checks by the Zambia Daily Mail on Saturday and Sunday.
During the check, it was discovered that hotels and lodges in the named areas had only white meat on their menus.
A chef at one of the named lodges in Chudleigh said conference attendees and customers at the lodge opted for other foods besides red meat.
Speaking in an interview, the chef said since the outbreak of anthrax in some parts of the country, in September, people visiting the lodge no longer order red meat.
“We were making a loss because each time we put red meat on the menu, people resist and openly say they don’t want red meat and immediately we change. So currently, we have removed meat on the menu,” the chef said…https://enews.daily-mail.co.zm/welcome/home
